چکیده

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of temperature on development two lines Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae), determine thermal requirements this parasitoid wasp Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) eggs. The experiment was carried out with (“Ubajara” and “Guaraciaba”, Ceará State) T. collected naturally parasitizing eggs N. in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruits. In experiment, 40 host 4 females parasitoids were used, exposure parasitism for 24 hours at 25 ± 1 °C, relative humidity 70 10 %, 12-h photophase. At end period, removed tubes transferred incubators (RH = %; photophase), exposed 15, 20, 25, 30, or 35 until emergence following generation parasitoids. percentage emergence, sex ratio, number that emerged per egg, cycle duration assessed. experiments set up a completely randomized experimental design 5 treatments (temperatures) 12 replicates. ANOVA conducted means compared by Tukey test (P < 0.05). base temperatures 10.77 °C 10.86 generations year 33.29 35.63 “Ubajara” respectively. showed changed biological parameters, “Guaraciaba” decreased as increased.

Interspecific interaction between Telenomus remus (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) and Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) on Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) eggs.

This work aims to evaluate the interspecific interaction between Trichogramma pretiosum and Telenomus remus, two biological control agents of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) eggs. Eggs of Spodoptera frugiperda previously parasitized by Telenomus remus were offered to Trichogramma pretiosum, and those parasitized by Trichogramma pretiosum were offered to Telenomus remus. The previously par...

Genitalic Differentiations in Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Gueneé) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Associated with Solanaceae Crops in Ecuador

Neoleucinodes elegantalis (Guenée) is an oligophagous species of plants in the Solanaceae family that has a broad geographical distribution in the tropical zones of South America. It is the most important insect pest of naranjilla (Solanum quitoense Lamarck), a crop grown in threatened areas of the tropical old-growth forest in Ecuador. In this study, two host-specific populations of N. elegant...

Laboratory Performance Predicts the Success of Field Releases in Inbred Lines of the Egg Parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)

In this study we assessed the relationship between the laboratory and field performance of different isofemale lines of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley. In comparative assays, we used three rare mitochondrial haplotypes as genetic markers of the isofemale lines, and by introgressing these mitochondrial haplotypes into each of 15 genetically different nuclear lines, also tested the assumption that ...

Potential of Trichogramma ostriniae (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) for biological control of European corn borer (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) in solanaceous crops.

We assessed the ability of Trichogramma ostriniae (Peng & Chen) to locate and parasitize Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) eggs in crops other than corn, and we evaluated the efficacy of inundative releases of the parasitoid in two solanaceous crops, pepper and potato. Despite a greater plant surface area to search, parasitism of O. nubilalis eggs was consistently higher in sweet corn than dicotyledo...
